Mission Statement

There are approximately 500 Sherpa currently living in Colorado.  Migrating from the mountains of the Himalayas, we settled down and found a new home within the hills of the Rockies.  In the spring of 2022, the community established the United Sherpa Association of Colorado (“Sherpa Kyidug”) as a non-profit organization.  It is a tax-exempt charitable organization under the section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.

The main goal of the organization is to preserve and promote Sherpa culture and tradition and to strengthen the Sherpa community living in the Rocky Mountain Areas.

The mission and goals of the Sherpa Association are:

  • To work towards the goal of establishing a community home or Sherpa Culture Center in Colorado
  •   To promote and preserve the Sherpa culture and traditions
  •  To create an environment that will empower our children in educational and career   fields
  •  To establish a network among Sherpas living in Colorado and assist in career opportunities
  • To support and participate in any programs related to preserving Sherpa Culture, education, and healthcare
  • To organize social and cultural events associated with the Sherpa community
  • To assist Sherpa Kyidug members and their families in times of need
  • To promote and further academic and professional advancements, and language
  • To share Himalayan Culture with the western world
  • To seek and explore opportunities for broader ties and partnerships with other communities.
  • To assist with projects in Nepal.
